December Reds

We (my son, Scott and I) left the condo about 7:00 A.M. and stopped by Port A Outfitters for a quart of shrimp. The weather was pretty cold (high forties) and the wind was blowing too, about 15-20.   First stop was the wall –nothing.   Then on our way to north wind island, we stopped at marker 8 across from Crab Man – nothing.   Went up M/C cut to north wind Island – nothing.   Back to South Bay (2 other boats there, one obviously a guide).  We caught a 23” keeper red, then 3 that were 19”+ that we had to throw back – too small, and got four more keepers, All were 20 –23”.  We had five keepers in the box so we could catch one more for our limit of 6.   Scott and I both hooked up at the same time.   They were both keepers so we kept one and threw one back. Headed back to marina and tried the Texas Treasure (gambling boat) Fina dock.  The TT was out of course.   Just one rat red.   Called it a day at about 2:45 P.M. Temperature had gotten into the high sixties and the wind had dropped.   An overall great day on the water. Four and one-half pounds of fillets.
