Meat Fishing

Thursday February 10, 2000

Hey spent a nice four days fishing West Beach around the water tower. Day one we, me and the wife, had fun meat fishing. Using peeled shrimp and a basic surf sinker and a double drop leader. We hit the Whiting on the second sand bar. Most of them were in the 12 to 14 inch slot with 4 going to 18 inches. The second day was slow but put 12 nice ones in the ice chest. They changed cuts and were in between the beach and the first sand bar. You have to find them so try every thing from the beach to as far out as you dare to go. The third day was a storm blow out. With the last day to go things turned to be a meat fisherman's dream. I put 33 in the ice chest none smaller than 14 inches and one over-sized Red. What a fight on a spinning reel. One other thing, I hooked a sting So watch the feet and legs!
