Silver Perch

The Silver Perch (Bairdiella chrysoura) is a unique fish that will leave you wondering what kind of fish it is, the first time you catch one. It is a silvery colored fish with yellowish fins. At first glance, you'll think that you've caught a trout, then you'll think that maybe you've caught a croaker. Fact is, the perch looks very similar to a sand trout except for the fact that sand trout usually have 1 or 2 prominent canine teeth at tip of upper jaw. They are small fish that seldom exceed 9 inches in length.

Perch are similar to croaker in that they feed on a wide variety of bottom dwelling marine creatures such as marine worms, shrimp, small fish, small crabs, and other small crustaceans. The best bait for perch is dead shrimp fished on the bottom.
