Skinny Water Redfish

I recently made a trip into East Bay near Rollover Bay with a couple of fellows in tow that had fished most of their lives from outboard powered watercraft. I of course, like to lurk around in skinny water in search of Reds. Neither one of these guys had ever gone fishing to specifically target Redfish. After the usual introduction into the use of a kayak and introduction into chunking soft plastics into skinny water up along the grass, they were soon hooking up with some quality Reds.

Kayak and Redfish

Thad caught the first Red that morning on a glow/chartreuse Bass Assassin. His partner soon followed with a nice Red himself. All in all, it was a great morning with a mess of 4 nice Red's. The tagged Red in the picture is a nice 29 incher. All of these fish were caught on Bass Assassins in a measly foot of water. Next time y'all go wade fishing and the urge to take off for the middle of the bay strikes, don't forget to check out the shorelines. You never know what you could be passing by.
